Sri Aurobindo College was established in 1972 to commemorate the birth centenary of Sri Aurobindo — a revered philosopher, patriot, and poet. Sri Aurobindo College is a premier constituent college of the University of Delhi. Located in Malviya Nagar, New Delhi, the college is recognized under Sections 2(f) and 12(b) of the UGC Act.
The institution is dedicated to providing holistic education inspired by Sri Aurobindo’s ideals of personal growth, academic excellence, and inner transformation. With a strong commitment to intellectual and ethical development, the college nurtures students into responsible and enlightened citizens.
At the heart of the college is a dedicated team of around 150 highly qualified faculties, committed to evolving through the cycles of learning, unlearning, and relearning. Teaching here is not a one-way transmission but a shared journey, where the roles of teacher and student merge in pursuit of knowledge. Behind the scenes, a capable support team keeps the laboratories and administrative systems running smoothly, sustaining the rhythm of academic life.
Over the decades, the college has grown significantly, with steady improvements in university results and vibrant student engagement in sports, NCC, and cultural societies. The institution facilitates smart learning through smart classrooms and continually updates its infrastructure to meet evolving academic needs. Currently, there are 44 Wi-Fi-enabled classrooms, and 20 LCD-equipped rooms, along with a state-of-the-art seminar hall that seats over 250 people, and is fitted with the latest ICT facilities.
The college also maintains a robust IT infrastructure, with 1,200 laptops and 334 desktops designated for use by students, administration, accounts, and various departments, ensuring comprehensive access to digital resources across academic and administrative functions. Additionally, four computer labs house 164 internet-enabled systems to further support academic and technical training.
The college library is a vital academic hub, housing around 65,000 books and offering a book bank scheme to ensure equitable access to textbooks and course materials. With NET LIB software and an online portal, it enables efficient digital management, easy access, and a streamlined borrowing process.
Now in its 53rd year, Sri Aurobindo College continues to uphold its legacy of excellence, driven by the dedication of its faculty and staff, and strengthened by a distinguished alumni network that has excelled across diverse fields such as education, management, finance, and entrepreneurship.
