The Department of Zoology at Sri Aurobindo College (M), University of Delhi was started with B.Sc. (Life Sciences) course in 1992. The Department offers a well-furnished and dynamic environment for hands-on learning and scientific exploration. It has two well-equipped laboratories to provide students with the core knowledge and practical skills in the field of Animal Diversity, Cell & Developmental Biology of Animals, Human Physiology, Biochemistry, Immunology, and Evolutionary Ecology. Moreover, the department also runs elective and skill development papers in applied areas like Neuroscience, Medical Zoology, Fish and Fisheries, Research Methodology, Forensic Science, Public Health and Hygiene, Apiculture, Sericulture, Ornamental Fish Culture etc. The department houses a diverse collection of preserved specimens, models, microscopes, and other essential tools that enhance the understanding of theoretical concepts through observation and experimentation.

It also maintains the rich departmental library for the reference of students and faculty members. The department’s mission extends beyond classroom teaching; therefore the department organizes seminars, talks and educational visits to expose students to cutting-edge research performed at premier institutes of India. Presently, our department runs B.Sc. (P) Life Science course under the UGCF 2022 based on NEP 2020 by University of Delhi. The department has four experienced and dedicated faculty members with expertise in diverse areas of Life Sciences. Our department promotes holistic development and empowers students to tackle global challenges in science and sustainability. With a focus on encouraging scientific learning, the Department of Zoology plays a vital role in nurturing future Scientists, Academicians, Entrepreneurs, Ecologists, and Conservationists.
